Is there anything more Canadian than poutine? How about the largest poutine festival in New Brunswick! Every spring, Greater Moncton transforms into the unofficial capital of gravy goodness. That’s right, Poutine Week is back March 27-April 13, 2025, and with it comes a glorious lineup of all new cheesy, crispy, totally over-the-top creations that would surely make any Canadian proud.
I’ve been hot on the trail, from downtown Moncton to the bustling Marché de Dieppe with my poutine pants on, for a taste of this year’s lineup that is once again proving that when it comes to poutine, there are no rules — just really good comfort food!
Warning: This recap may result in extreme cravings and sudden road trips.

1. The Chicken Pickle Poutine – Mexi’s
First stop, Mexi’s. Where tacos may be the usual headliner, but for Poutine Week, it’s all about the pickles. The Chicken Pickle Poutine is what happens when a dill pickle takes center stage, and absolutely owns it.
Deep-fried pickles, perfectly crisp and tangy, team up with tender breaded chicken, golden fries, cheese curds, and a smooth, creamy garlic aioli. It’s a combo that keeps the spirit of poutine alive while giving it a zesty little twist. If you love pickles, this one’s basically your soulmate in a bowl.

2. The Apple Poutine – Gâteries JR’s Treats
Next, things get sweet over at JR’s Treats in the Dieppe Market with their showstopper. Sure, it’s not your classic poutine, but who said dessert can’t get in on the action?
Let’s be honest. This poutine might not keep the doctor away, but it’ll definitely keep you coming back for more. This charming creation features local Honeycrisp apples, whipped cream cheese, caramel drizzle, and a generous sprinkle of Skor bits. There’s also a healthier indulgence version topped with locally produced yogurt, maple syrup, almonds, flax and cinnamon! It’s like your mémère’s apple pie met a poutine at a Quinzzou party and sparks flew.
If you’ve got this on your list, keep in mind it is only available on Saturdays during Poutine Week at the Dieppe Market from 8am-1pm.

3. The Irish-Canadian Connection – Gallagher’s Irish Pub
What happens when Irish charm meets Canadian comfort food? You get this beauty from Gallagher’s Irish Pub, which was rebranded from the former Old Triangle Irish Pub on Main Street, this past fall. The more you know!
This hearty dish blends crispy fries, melty cheese curds, and a rich maple curry cream sauce topped off with both parmesan and cheese curds. You can also order it without the chicken as a vegetarian option. It’s sweet, it’s savoury, everything your body craves! Consider this the ultimate peace treaty where everyone wins.

4. The Mighty Mauro – The Bar at the Beau (Delta Beauséjour)
If you’re looking to raise your pinky fork with something a little more upscale, The Bar at the Beau is delivering big with the Mighty Mauro. This is possibly the most elegant take on poutine I’ve seen (and yes, I’ve seen a lot).
Fresh-cut fries layered with smoked bacon, toasted panko for that gourmet crunch, and a green peppercorn and jalapeno gravy that tastes like it was brewed by a wizard. This poutine has serious main-character energy.
If you’re into poutine with a side of sophistication, this one’s your jam.

5. Bacon Double Cheeseburger Poutine – Cheers Beverage Room
What better way to wrap up a week of indulgence than with a classic mashup from the place where they really did know my name! Coincidence? Reservation? Celebrity status? We’ll never know.
This beefy, bacony beast of a dish combines all the greatest hits. Ground beef, bacon, pickles, onions, melty cheese, burger sauce. All piled high on a mountain of fries and gravy. It’s the kind of over-the-top comfort food that makes you want to high-five the chef and take a nap immediately after. It’s exactly what a poutine fest is all about.
I think one thing is for sure. Moncton knows how to poutine! Each restaurant is bringing something totally unique to the table, proving there’s no limit to what you can do with fries, cheese, and a little imagination (and a lot of gravy). And this is just the tip of the iceberg. There’s 37 poutines from local restaurants all across Greater Moncton! Surely a flavour for everyone.
So what are you waiting for? Greater Moncton Poutine Week runs from March 27-April 13. Check out all of the options at feastatlantic.com and you can even play Poutine Bingo and win prizes! You don’t want to miss this, so get out there and support local.
